- A Message From the Golf Professional at Valley Green
- Larry Liprando has been the manager and golf professional at Valley Green Golf Club for the past twenty-five years. He turned professional at the age of 20 and has been a member of the P.G.A. since 1969. Larry played on the P.G.A. Tour in 1970 and also qualified for the 1974 U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York. In the 1977 West Penn Open at Sewickley Heights Country Club in Pittsburgh, he shot a course record 65. Larry has also attempted to qualify for the Senior P.G.A. Tour.
- During this time, Larry has worked at some of the best courses in eastern part of the country. He has spent time at Acacia Country Club in Cleveland, Churchill Valley Country Club in Pittsburgh, and Irwin Country Club in western Pennsylvania.
- A Message From Larry "Hank" McClean, the Course Superintendent
- I am the superintendent of Valley Green Golf Club. I have been involved with golf and turf management for 33 years. Our course is a flat 18-hole facility with wide fairways and large greens. We offer individual and family memberships as well as being opened to the general public. On weekends I enjoy grilling steaks for our golf outings. In 1988 Mr. Liprando started to build a new course in New Alexandria, PA. The course became Mannitto Golf Club. I worked on the construction of Mannitto until it's completion in 1991.
I then came to my home course, Valley Green, for the next two years. During the next two years, I was superintendent for both Valley Green and Mannitto. My assistant, Scott Miller, supervised Valley Green in my absence. In 1999, Mr. Donald Liprando became the new superintendent of Mannitto and I came back home to Valley Green.
My new project is starting a green house. The green house is located above the parking lot at Valley Green. We are growing plants for all of our golf courses and also to sell to the public.
I have enjoyed my golf course career. I am going to keep working on Valley Green so it is enjoyable to play. So come play and try our course - I am sure you will enjoy it. We will be glad to have you.
My crew and I wish you a nice day.
